Project discription:
“Sostanze Psicotrope e Nuove Dipendenze” is a Peer Education project about traditional and new kind of drugs aimed to reduce drugs’ use among young people raising awareness about the problem of drug dependence.
Peer education techniques allow to induce young adults to a stronger freedom and consciousness in their choices.
The project consists of five steps:
1) Peer education training for medical students
2) Lessons on dependency with psychiatrists
3) School meetings with students of four hours: two about traditional drugs and two about new dependencies and i-dose phenomenon
4) Evaluation trough questionnaires and case/control studies
Drugs’ use is a hot issue in many countries around the world and education is one of the most effective forms of prevention of this problem, because the best thing to do is acting on the behaviour of young adults to ensure their empowerment.
Goals:
- Raise awareness about problems related to addictions;
- Reduce number of young adults who start tu use drugs;
- Reduce addiction in general population;
- Give information about centres which give help for secret and for free;
- Create a group of people informed and motivated about drugs.
These goals are reached by:
- Peer Education sessions in high schools;
- Create a questionnaire to evaluate project’s efficacy.

Status: National Project
It was started in 2012 and it’s organized by more or less four local committees every year.
It is still active.
